Huawei “Shark Dancer” was directed by Juriaan Booij for RSA Films and produced by Lisa Joseph and Matthew Binns as part of Huawei’s global campaign exploring the sense of touch. Photographed by Director of Photography Sherman Johnson, the branded documentary follows renowned shark conservationist and diver Cristina Zenato as she interacts with wild sharks in the waters off Grand Bahama Island. Filmed in open ocean conditions, the project combines documentary storytelling with immersive underwater cinematography to capture Cristina Zenato’s extraordinary interactions with wild sharks. Developed around Huawei’s campaign theme of touch, the film documents her remarkable ability to physically interact with the animals, capturing moments of connection rarely seen in nature. “Shark Dancer” received international recognition, earning a Bronze Lion for Cinematography at the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and the award for Best Cinematography at the 2015 Berlin Ciclopes Film Festival.
