The Critic
Director: Frank Kelly

The Critic is a branded narrative short film written and directed by Frank Kelly and photographed by Director of Photography Sherman Johnson. Produced by Reel City Films and filmed at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, the project stars Nick Puya and Julia Ford Collier. The story follows Meghan Dupane, a luxury hotel reviewer whose routine assignment at one of Florida’s most iconic destinations unexpectedly becomes a mysterious and romantic adventure. Blending cinematic storytelling with branded content, the film uses the hotel itself as both setting and character, weaving together elements of romance, intrigue, and discovery. Photographed on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera with vintage Nikon lenses, the visual approach balances the elegance of the historic property with a soft, cinematic aesthetic. Natural daylight, practical lighting, and carefully composed camera movement were used throughout to complement the architecture and atmosphere of The Biltmore while supporting the film’s romantic tone.
